The myth most Christians believe is that Bible Study alone will cause a Christian to grow. The truth is Bible Study without application (serving, obeying) will produce an exerciseless Christian - one who is weak and spiritually unhealthy. The Saducees and Pharisees of Jesus' day were perfect examples. They knew the scriptures but did not practice the scriptures. Eph. 2 is clear about two things: (1) We are not saved by our works (2) We are saved in order to work. James 2 makes it clear that the kind of faith that does not work, is not true faith at all.
