Posted by jim.fitzpatrick Monday, 2010-April-12 We started a new series - Big Questions about God from Romans 9-11. The first questions deals with the faithfulness of God. These three chapters are difficult because they deal with the doctrine of election (see v.11). The scriptures teach that God chose us to be His children. Yet, at the same time there are many references urging people to choose God. I believe this is one of several mysteries in scripture. What I mean by that, is you cannot understand this concept (God chooses us and we choose Him) with human logic. It is similar in that regard to the trinity or the two natures of Christ (He is both God and man). The doctrine of election shows us that God is faithful to us. It humbles us and should cause us to live extremely grateful and dependent lives. We may not understand all of God's ways, but we can rejoice in His great love and faithfulness to us! Post reply
