WIN

I have a corny confession to make. I get motivated by silly little slogans. Every
year I have a different slogan for my year. These slogans motivate me to eat
right, exercise, spend time in the Word, and accomplish the goals I have set out
for myself. This year’s slogan is “What’s Important Now.” I heard someone say
that “winners always do the important things when they need to be done.” What’s
Important Now = WIN.
I get up at 5 a.m. most mornings to go to the gym and workout. At 5 a.m. the first
WIN is to get out of bed! The second WIN is to work hard and keep breathing!
At 7:30 each morning I seek to spend thirty minutes with God in His word and
prayer. That is my main morning WIN. Each meal is an opportunity for a WIN. I
try to eat just one plate per meal and have a good balance of fruits and vegetables.
During the day the WIN is to “work hard as unto the Lord and not unto
men” (Colossians 3:23). Each day it is important for me to pray, to study, to invest
in our church staff, and seek to serve the people God has given me to shepherd.
Being a good husband, good neighbor, good friend, and good father are all
“What’s Important Now,” in my life. Honoring God in my actions, reactions, and
interactions each day is really important to me. I want to be a good example who
encourages people to know and grow in Christ.
As a church, we have been very clear that getting the gospel out is our WIN.
Sharing the gospel with people God puts in our lives is our first priority. Seeking
to share God’s good news locally and globally is really important to us. It is encouraging
to me to see how many people are sharing the good news with others.
I have great joy about that!
I also pray that the gospel will get out worldwide. Please pray for missions and
missionaries you know. Give to missions and go on short-term mission trips
when you can. God always does something in our lives when we go and represent
Him, whether across the street or around the world.
If you want to, you can use my silly little slogan. What’s important now? What is
your WIN? Let’s work together to WIN people to Christ!i
